So I thought that during my deployment, I would have time to make weekly blog posts about games and different things. I was wrong. While I did have some time to myself while I was underway, the internet was really spotty at times and I ended up not getting around to writing as much as would have liked. Then I got home in October 2014 and never got back into writing.
My daughter had started watching all the different Youtubers playing minecraft and different games. She had said that she wanted to make youtube videos. I found that the PS4 can stream gameplay to Twitch and we made some twitch accounts. Then I started making a couple Youtube videos myself and playing retro games a lot more. Even made a Twitter account. I never did get back to sitting down and writing.
A couple days ago I thought about my blog channel as I sat playing Guild of Dungeoneering. It was an amazingly fun game and it made me think that I should get into writing and creating more content. It was such a frustratingly fun game. So I wondered about the direction that I should go.
I have really liked my Loot Crate unboxing videos I’ve made with my daughter. So I’m going to duel those by making a video on youtube and also a blog with my thoughts. The unboxings are not rehearsed beforehand, so it may be good to sit and write about my thoughts on each crate as well. I’m excited to do those and have a couple different subscriptions to do each month. I get the standard Loot Crate, then the new Loot Gaming, and the new deluxe Loot DX each month. My daughter is also subscribed to Loot Anime, which I’ll soon be cancelling because there is a new Minecraft themed one that she really wanted to get.
Along with the unboxing videos/blogs, I plan on getting back into reviewing games. I have amassed a couple steam games and want to write about my thoughts and reviews on some of those games. Most of the time they will be the Indie Games, I have really gotten into the lesser known games. While they aren’t the AAA titles, there are some amazing gems and creations that people have made. Occasionally I may write about a bigger game, can wait for Final Fantasy XV. I’m a big RPG player.
Then finally, I may write about different retro games as well. The Indie scene has done great to catch that old SNES and NES feel with some modern flair, but there’s nothing like firing up my NES or SNES and playing some of the games I played as a kid. For Christmas this past year I ended up getting a Super 8-bit console, which pretty much is an original Nintendo. The guy that made it took the motherboard and insides of the NES and modified them to output in RGB. Then along with the Framemeister I got it will pretty much output in 1080p to my TV. These old games have never looked better. I had originally thought about playing the old games and having my 9 year old daughter review them. Thought that it would be something different than all the new reviews people are doing of retro games. She had some interest at first, but didn’t really stick and it got to be a chore to get her to do them.
I have photos I have taken of my latest Loot Gaming crate and plan on writing up something soon. Then some time after that I plan on a review of my playthrough of Guild of Dungeoneering. I also had played Divinity: Original Sin recently as well and have some thoughts about that game. So look forward to those.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
